ABOUT the artist

I was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana. Growing up in a resort town I came across a multitude of colorful individuals that lent inspiration, after all, the main focus in all of my pieces is portrait and the human figure.

I spent a decade in the United States Navy, as a C130 Crew Chief. Through this, I was able to travel throughout the world. As of 2018 I have visited 23 countries on this wild, blue planet. In 2018 I came back to Montana to pursue a degree in Economics at Montana State University to learn more about finance and business, and to fulfill my lifelong goal of being an artist. For a very long time I didn’t consider being an artist as a profession that was attainable to me. Many times I had been told it was an unrealistic profession, that I would be doomed to be a ‘starving artist,’ as it were. It was a hobby, a passing phase, that it wouldn’t pay my bills. I believed all of this, until I realized I was my own barrier to entry, and that being an artist embodies who I am, completely. Art and creativity are what I love to do most. I practice and create on a daily basis, between walks with my dogs, Eisenhower and Gabby, amongst the reaching trees and ridges of the bridger mountain range, time with my partner, who is also an artist, and painting during EDM concerts on the weekend at the seedy little clubs that litter Bozeman’s Main Street. Creating fuels my purpose, it expresses my feelings, and completion of a final piece provides me with a feeling of accomplishment and joy that I cannot describe.

My mom was deeply encouraging and persistent in motivating my inclination toward creating. She once told me that she believed it was possible for me to change the world with my art. Everyday I create is a service to that expectation, and the part of me that she held so dear, the artist that I have become.

Sadly my mother passed away in 2009, before she had the chance to see the results of my work. Regardless, I know she would be proud.

I work hard at my art. It has been a constant for my entire life, a goal and a passion since I was a child. Being creative and making art is ever-present for me, it is as necessary as breathing, to me.

Enjoy the body of work, peruse my portfolio, read the blog, hell, please buy something! Art deserves to be seen and enjoyed, and every piece comes with a little glimpse of my soul.
